News: Open Catskills in the Community

We are proud to work in partnership with individuals and organizations to support refugees and asylum seekers, and to advocate for the human rights and freedoms of displaced people fleeing difficult situations. Through mutual commitment and care, we together form Open Catskills.

Kahrin Vesterfield of Walton, a graduating high-school senior and salutatorian of her class, won the Delhi Bridge Run Scholarship with an essay on the importance of supporting refugees and asylum seekers. She nominated Open Catskills as an organization to receive a grant from the scholarship organizers. We are grateful for her advocacy, and proud to be a part of her community.
